I have been working on the Changeling World Tarot since 2020. I started it during a year off from art school for the pandemic, something I never expected.

 

The Changeling World is inspired by the feeling of finding yourself in a strange new world. I have always lived a lot inside my own head and focused on the little details of the world. What does a world where everything is just a bit more strange and magical look like?

 

The name "Changeling World" comes from folklore, where the Fae were said to switch human children for fae creatures. I've always loved this folklore concept. Unfortunately, changeling was also a term often used in reference to children who were neurodivergent or disabled. This is a side of the term that I want to reclaim through this deck, and hopefully it may resonate with those of us who may sometimes find ourselves feeling out of place in the world.

 

A lot of my art has served as a way for me to process the world. Overwhelm is a theme in much of my work. This has led to my busy and organic art style, often including twisting foliage and visual complexity. This style, woven with my idea of what a magical world or Fae realm might look like, created the visual language of this deck.

 

I have worked on it for over six years as of writing this, and much has changed and evolved during that time.
